John Deckert was an abstract painter during studies and through the first years in New York City. He exhibited at the Allan Stone Gallery and was to showcase paintings in the storefront windows of Tiffany’s on Fifth Avenue. Later, a year spent in Paris was the turning point away from abstraction and toward realism and representation in painting.

Some later experiments in software generated 3D computer graphics harkened back to the imagery of this period.
